Fishbowl has recently released their newest update 2017.4 bringing along with it several new features as well as a few bug fixes.  Below you will find some of the great features in Fishbowl 2017.4.  Before you upgrade please read the section at the bottom for some important instructions.  Unlike a typical release, when you move to 2017.4 you will need to manually update each of your client computers.

Auto-Fill Cartons in Shipping

There is a new option in the Product Module on the Details tab to auto-fill cartons in shipping with a default quantity by product. With this option selected, Fishbowl will automatically create a carton for each product with the default carton count and default carton type you specify. Any products that do not have auto fill enabled will be grouped into a single carton.

Manual Manufacture Order Item and Kit Changes

Price adjustments associated with kits or Manufacture Order items can now be manually adjusted.

Customize the Estimate Title

There is a new Sales Order module option to customize the estimate title on the Sales Order Report so that it can fit your company's or industry’s needs more closely.

Plugin Updates

We highly encourage you to always use the most current version of your plugins so that you have access to the latest features and bug fixes. With Fishbowl 2017.3 or newer, you can view which version of each plugin you have installed in the About section of the Help menu.

Important Instructions to Read Before You Upgrade Fishbowl

Important Upgrade Notice

Each client computer will need to be manually updated to 2017.4 as a result of changes made to the way the client update is received from the server.

If you are updating to 2017.4 from any version other than 2017.1, 2017.2, or 2017.3:

  •  You must first be on Fishbowl version 2016.14. 2017 will migrate your database from Firebird to MySQL. A new database will be created and populated with all your existing data. This process may take a significant amount of time, especially when updating large databases.
  •  If you have integrations such as shopping carts, custom reports, or custom shipping integrations, please contact the partner you purchased them from before upgrading so you can be certain they will work with the new version. Additionally, all shipping integrations will need to be reconnected after installing.
  •  If you have your Fishbowl Server running on a Mac, please contact our support team. The database migration tool will not work on a Mac. We will be more than happy to assist you in migrating your database.
  •  Upgrading to 2017 will require a new license key to complete the installation process. To get your new key, click here.
